Koru Whanau Assembly end of year Celebration - GEMS and Learning for Life Awards

We are ready to rock and roll at the Assembly - Santa Claus is coming to town!

Jessica Caprice Aston and Yi Fan were selected from our class for the GEMS and Learning for Life awards which embody the values of our school. Congratulations!

We are all looking forward to relaxing in the holidays under the shade of a tree!

Father's Day Breakfast with paper planes galore!

What a super breakfast organised by amazing school parents who have taken a lot of their own time to create a wonderful community event! A special mention to the parents who stood outside in the damp, cold fog all morning - Kylee and Bridget! Alongside the PTA parents and the extra help we had from more parents on the day and teachers on the tables, AV equipment and supervision when Dads had to go for the day.

Brandon and His Dad won the first round of paper planes competition! Brandon won a new scooter and a Granger's voucher for Dad! WOW!

The hall is a hive of activity this morning from 7am onwards!

Caprice did an awesome job of finishing first in Year 3 Girls - AND she had stayed up late the night before when she was part of the Dance Festival!

Feedback and Feed forward - what is that??? Peer Assessment in the form of 2 stars and a wish!

As part of Writing Trip Reports this week we planned using 'The Hamburger Plan'. Then we put our ideas into the correct sequence.

Editing took place in the form of:

rereading

underlining words I had tried to spell but did not feel the word looked right to me

using spellrites and dictionaries and other words

changing sentences that could be better with more interesting words

Then in pairs we swapped books.

We each had a slip of paper for peer assessment (marking another person's writing)

We had to read the writing to ourselves then talk to the person about their Trip Recount and write down 2 STARS which is 2 things we noticed they did really well. For example: the ideas were in the correct sequence or the person used some adjectives. 

Then we had to write down 1 wish which is one thing they could work on to get better at in their writing next time. For example: use capital letters or make sure the sentences make sense.

Mrs T was very impressed with how many positive comments as feedback were given and how such a lot of feed forward wishes were suggested.

THE NEXT TASK WAS TO ADD THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN IN OUR FAMILIES SO THIS GROUP HAD TO SURVEY THE CLASS AND ADD THE BROTHERS, SISTERS AND OURSELVES TOGETHER. WHICH GROUP DO YOU THINK WAS THE BIGGEST? OUR TOTAL WAS.....?
