Project Jonah pays us a visit!

These Good Sorts and Enviro Heroes are full of knowledge about whale and dolphin strandings around New Zealand.

Look how big the whales around New Zealand can get!
Thank you Alexandra for helping to hold the measuring tape!

What do you do to help a stranded dolphin or whale?
Put water on it from the sea using anything you can find, like a bucket.
Wet towels or sheets and lay on the whale to stop the creature getting sun burnt.
Do not cover the blow hole otherwise they can't breathe.
Do not cover their face and eyes - they need to see what is going on.
Ring 0800  4 WHALE or the Fire Department on 111.

  1. What an interesting display by Project Jonah. The blow up whale gives us a good idea of the size of whales that get beached around our shores. What was the most interesting fact you heard?
